While our base rates for general transcription are calculated based on turnaround time, the quality of the recording, the number of the speakers, and any speaker accents also contribute to the final cost of a transcription. Included in this price chart are these additional cost factors as well as additional services CMR offers that many companies find useful--exact verbatim transcription and time coding. Brief explanations are listed below.
Recording Quality: Poor microphone placement, technical difficulties, and background noise all affect the ability of our transcriptionists to transcribe your audio accurately and quickly. CMR Transcription will make every effort to transcribe your audio within the requested turnaround time, but you can help ensure this timeliness by notifying us in advance of any audio problems in your recording.
Number of speakers: Transcribing audio from multiple speakers--especially when speakers do not identify themselves--makes additional demands upon CMR's transcriptionists and editors, who make every attempt to verify the speakers' identities.
Speaker accents: Due to CMR Transcription Services' commitment to accuracy, transcriptionists and editors must work at a slower rate to ensure accuracy when speakers have difficult-to-understand accents.
Exact verbatim transcription: CMR's general policy is to provide transcripts in modified verbatim format--that is to say, CMR transcriptionists and editors do not transcribe stammers, restatements, and verbal fillers including "like," "um," or "you know." However, in some instances, our clients would prefer exact verbatim transcription, in which the transcriptionist provides a written account of the speaker's exact words, including filler, restatements, and stammers.
Time coding: CMR Transcriptionists can provide time stamps throughout your document every 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 1 minute, or any other interval over 5 seconds you request.
